Abstract

Background: With the increasing interconnectivity of international business, multinationals are adopting varied marketing practices in developing countries. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of either global or localized marketing techniques, especially amid increasing digital revolutionization, has not been explored comprehensively enough. Problem Statement: Current literature on the issue is limited, as it fails to consider the role of cultural adaptation and adoption of digital marketing in influencing market performance. This research seeks to explore the impact of global marketing on brand recognition, purchasing behavior, and overall market performance in four major emerging nations such as India, Brazil, Nigeria, and Vietnam. Methodology: Quantitative method was applied, involving data collection from 300 marketing professionals via structured surveys in the following industries: FMCGs, technology, finance, and retailing. The surveys were validated using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), while hypothesis testing involved the use of hierarchical multiple regression and ANOVA. Key Statistical Findings: Adoption of digital marketing (β = 0.41, p < .001) turned out to be the most important predictor of market performance, after cultural adaptation (β = 0.37, p < .001) and brand awareness (β = 0.29, p < .001). Standardization showed an inverse correlation with market performance (β = -0.18,p < .05), indicating that the application of standardization should be avoided in such situations. Analysis of variance showed significant differences between markets in all strategy dimensions (p < .05). Contributions and Implications: In conclusion, the results confirm that the proposed glocalization strategy framework, which involves implementing digital marketing with cultural customization, yields superior outcomes compared to the standardized approach in the context of emerging countries.
